About Mr. Ahmed Farah Mohamed

Mr. Ahmed Farah Mohamed is a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist specializing in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Bioinformatics, with over seven years of psrofessional experience in the health sector of Puntland, Somalia. He brings a strong background in laboratory science, public health, epidemiology, biosafety, and health systems strengthening.

Personal Experiences

Ahmed currently serves as the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the University of Bosaso –Garowe, where he provides academic leadership, strengthens curriculum and accreditation processes, supports faculty development, and advances research excellence. His work has significantly improved student outcomes, faculty capacity, and institutional visibility.

In addition, Ahmed is a Biosafety Officer at the Puntland Public Health Reference Laboratory, Ministry of Health, where he leads biosafety systems, conducts risk assessments, trains laboratory personnel, and ensures compliance with public health and safety regulations. His role has been central to enhancing laboratory standards, preparedness, and emergency response.

His previous leadership as Head of Laboratory at Arafat Hospital strengthened diagnostic quality, introduced new technologies, improved turnaround time, and advanced laboratory SOPs. He has also lectured in microbiology and facilitated multiple health-related trainings.

Ahmed holds a Master of Biomedicine (USM – Malaysia), a Bachelor’s in Medical Laboratory Science (Karary University – Sudan), and advanced training including the Somali Frontline Field Epidemiology Training Program (SFETP). Dedicated to scientific excellence and community wellbeing, Ahmed blends technical expertise with strong leadership, research capability, and a passion for improving health outcomes in Somalia.
